Pool Safety can make or break your Summer
You may of forgotten about it during winter months, but with summer around the corner (and Queensland forecast to have a warmer summer than usual), the pool will be your best friend. With that in mind, it is more important than ever to make sure your pool is safe and compliant for the whole family. Knowing your family is safe is guaranteed to make your Summer more relaxing. Every pool in Queensland, Australia was due to be compliant by the end of November 2015, We are now in 2017 rolling over to 2018 and there is still a number of Pools non-compliant! It’s not worth the risk.
If you think your pool is compliant but have not had it checked it’s best you do, as even though the problems can be small they create a huge safety risk.
Here are some of the main problems with pool gates
- Hinges failing to close the gate behind you
- Gate not lining up because of ground movement or kids swinging on gates
- Gates being pulled out of closed position – therefore are not locking properly
- Gates being able to be locked when the gate is open – causing the gate not to lock
- Latches too low
- Rusted frames
I have attached videos below of some other unsafe pool qualities – please if you have any of these make it priority to get compliant.
Also, it is not as simple as a do it yourself home fix it – although a building approval is not required for these pool barrier repairs and maintenance they must still comply with the Pool Safety Standard.
Don’t leave things to the last minute. Get in touch with Robson’s to make sure your pool is safe for everyone this Christmas.
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable Summer!
